On April 6, the CSMFO Central Valley Chapter hosted its first in person chapter meeting in nearly three years at the Tracy Community Center, with roughly 35 members in attendance.

Marc Coopwood and George Passidakis of Apex Cybersecurity spoke about Cybersecurity and how it relates to finance professionals. Marc has a background as the former Assistant Chief of Police for Beverly Hills, CA. George has over thirty years in IT management. Marc and George educated our chapter about why cybersecurity is not only an IT issue and gave some great tips on recommended safeguards and risk assessments that can be conducted within our organizations. It was an informative discussion for those in attendance and a great opportunity to come together and network in person after so many years.

The Central Valley chapter has two upcoming meetings this summer. On Thursday, May 18, we will host a virtual discussion on GASB 96 implementation and compliance. Then on Thursday, August 24th we will once again gather in person to discuss investing for local governments. We’d love to see you at one of our upcoming meetings, so save these dates on your calendar and be on the lookout for registration to open.
