By the 2023 Conference Planners

CSMFO’s 2023 Conference is brimming with opportunities to learn, connect, grow and even get some steps in on your Fitbit. Outside of our incredible sessions and CPE’s we’re offering in our main program, take a look at these extra conference offerings.

2023 CSMFO Pre-Conference Sessions

Looking for in depth training on some hot topics or in need of additional CPE? Maybe some relaxation or networking opportunities prior to the start of the CSMFO conference?

Join us for some of our pre-conference offerings on Tuesday, Jan. 31st!
We have a range of events if you are able to leave the office a day early.

Pre-Conference Sessions
CSMFO is offering four pre-conference sessions! Below are links to each session description. You may register (at an additional cost) on the website.

Leading, Learning, and Growing the Team for Tomorrow

Those who have attended Phil Bertolini’s sessions in the past know time with him is well-spent. Join him and three finance professionals at various stages in their careers for an interactive experience where the attendees will gain best practices on how to assess the team and culture, build the team towards a goal, and prepare the next generation of leaders for the future.

Fundamentals of Municipal Taxation: Property, Sales, and Other Local Taxes

Michael Coleman is the undisputed expert when it comes to municipal taxation. Whether you’re new to local government, or looking to brush up on your knowledge, this session is for you.

It’s Your Close, Marty! Something’s Gotta be Done about Your Close!

Who doesn’t want a smooth year-end closing process?! This half-day session will provide you with a wealth of resources and perspective from people who have been in the trenches and are happy to share their expertise with you.

Pensions Basics: Everything you Need to Know…

Always a bit of an intimidating subject, this session aims to take away some of the mystery around pensions. The presenters are engaging and – even better – can speak about pensions in “plain English.” This session will go beyond CalPERS valuations, and help you understand how the work of the actuaries ultimately connects to the contribution rates your entity pays for your pensions, including key risks and tips on communicating to your stakeholders.
