Chapter Round-up: Joint Meeting of Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley Chapters
Veronica Tafolla Bustillos, Inland Empire Chapter Chair, Finance Manager, City of San Bernardino Water Department
On September 21st, the CSMFO Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley Chapters held a joint virtual chapter meeting with over sixty member and guest attendees. Our dynamic guest speaker, Nicole Lance, of Lance Strategies, led an engaging presentation, entitled “Bypassing Burnout and Dealing with Dumpster Fires”.

Nicole is a professional facilitator and an internationally certified life coach focused on helping teams and individuals making courageous transformations. As her high-energy experience stems from serving in various government roles before transitioning into a full-time professional coach, her speaking points are relatable to the challenges we encounter in our own servant leadership roles. The presentation provided several strategies for navigating challenges of low-level stress and high levels of uncertainty. Nicole also provided physiological based tactics to manage stress, plans for leveraging self-sustenance practices, and productivity tips to manage burnout. She delivered information that was both meaningful and actionable.
Here are just a few powerful questions that Nicole outlined to help find clarity before acting:
- I can do this, but do I want to?
- Is this really working for me?
- How does this feel in my body?
- Is this what I want (what I really, really want)?
Nicole’s presentation was a reminder that self-care is necessary; it allows us to be happier, more fulfilled, and more productive. You can find out more about Nicole at nicolelance.co, and look for her new book coming out in November!
