Mental Health Awareness Month

By Allison Tong, West Basin Municipal Water District

What is Mental Health?

Mental Health is important for everybody’s well-being which is why CSMFO will be honoring Mental Health Awareness this May. The need to care for one’s mental health is more important now than ever before. Whether it may be yourself or someone you care about, acknowledging signs of distress and need for help is paramount. Every Monday for the month of May, we will be sharing articles, fact sheets and videos that we hope our members will find informative or helpful. Let’s take the opportunity to learn and bring awareness to end any stigma around mental health.

All of the facts sheets we will be sharing are from Mental Health America, a community-based nonprofit dedicated to assisting those in need of living with mental illness and to promote the overall mental health for all. It is important we get to know the facts in mental health and what we can do to help ourselves or others in need. We all deal with stress in different ways and often manifest into pain in our body as a warning sign. In addition to the fact sheets we will be sharing meditation and yoga videos to help us all learn to calm the mind and relax our body. We encourage our members to take the time to read and share with others.
