CSMFO Conference Treats... and (We Promise) NO Tricks!
In the spirit of ghosts and goblins and treats, CSMFO has some special treats for our conference attendees. Since Education is one of our core tenets, what better treat than more sessions for you to view, learn – and get the perk of CPE credits, as well!
As stated on our website, CSMFO will be following the CDC guidelines in place when we attend the conference. We also understand that for some, you are not yet ready to return to the live sessions, or maybe the conference conflicts with something else on your calendar. As our first treat, we are here to offer a solution to this conundrum.
Treat #1:
After each conference, we often hear back that it was hard to choose between competing sessions, and there are always requests to repeat sessions. To reach all people’s interests, it is difficult to find a time to repeat many sessions. To address this, as well as to offer conference training to those that could not attend in person, this year’s Host Committee is offering a virtual conference component, to include 15 of the hottest topics, as well as the general session and keynote speakers from the actual conference.
These sessions will be video recorded live at the conference, and then offered on four afternoons in March 2022:
- Tuesday, March 15
- Wednesday, March 16
- Tuesday, March 22
- Wednesday, March 23
Each day will have 2 time slots with 2 sessions offered during each time. The speakers that participated at the live conference will be present to answer any questions that virtual conference attendees may have. Thus, each session will qualify for CPE credit.
For those attending the live conference, adding on the virtual component is a terrific way to maximize CPE and pick up those sessions that you may have missed. In addition, the virtual conference allows staff that otherwise could not attend the conference to access some valuable training. When you register for the in-person conference, for just $150 more you can include the virtual conference. If you are not attending the in-person conference, you can still sign up for the virtual conference for $350.
Interesting in adding this onto your conference experience? Just mark the box on your registration form. If you have already registered and now want to add this option, please email kory.adams@staff.csmfo.org, or call 916-231-2137.

Treat #2:
On Tuesday, February 15, the Program Committee has assembled 4 preconference sessions for you to add to your conference experience (separate registration is required). Three full-day sessions are being offered, along with one half-day session. You may view all the session descriptions here.
Treat #3:
Are you an active government member of CSMFO, but are unable to attend the conference because of your agency’s limited budget? Do you only have funding for one staff member to attend the conference but want others to have the experience? Do you have staff that have not yet joined CSMFO or attended a conference, and you’d like to see them join and participate? Are you a current college student interested in the government finance sector? If so, we would like for you or your staff to join us at the 2022 Annual Conference in San Diego!
CSMFO’s Board of Directors has set aside 40 scholarships for situations like yours, as well as 20 scholarships for students. Two criteria must be met to qualify for the scholarship, which will cover your conference fee. To qualify you must
- Already be/or become a member of CSMFO, and
- Attending your first CSMFO Annual Conference.
Meet the qualifications? Submit the online scholarship form that is under the conference attendee registration tab on the conference website. Because we are also offering a virtual component to our conference on March 16-23, you might be interested in the virtual conference instead of the live conference. Or if you do not receive one of the scholarships for the in-person conference but would accept one for the virtual conference. If either of these apply to you, please check the appropriate boxes on the application.
Your application will be reviewed, and a decision will be made by December 6, 2021. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive confirmation by email.
If there are any questions, please contact Kofi Antobam, Director of Administrative Services, kofia@RanchoMirageCA.gov
We hope you enjoy your candy bag of education treats and we look forward to seeing you all in San Diego!

I look forward to personally welcoming you to the 2022 CSMFO Annual Conference, taking place February 16-18 in San Diego.
