Mental Health Awareness Month

James Russell-Field, Communications Chair and Director of Administrative Services for the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District.

I hope you have had a chance to review the CSMFO Annual Conference Magazine. The Conference Magazine is the first big task for the Communications Committee, and it is always exciting to see the final product. A big thank you to all our authors, designers, and sponsors for helping to create a great recap of CSMFO’s first virtual conference.

May is Mental Health Awareness month. Spring can be a stressful time, and with the continuing COVID-19 pandemic adding to the stress it is even more important to check in on friends, family, co-workers, and of course, yourself! If you are looking for some great resources for yourself or to share with others, Mental Health America releases an annual toolkit covering various mental health topics. Also keep an eye on CSMFO News next week for an article providing some good tips on mental health in the workplace.

We have some more great content for the month of May. We are looking forward to sharing a recap of one of CSMFO’s trainings from April: Pension Obligation Bonds – Are They Right for Your Agency? Also keep an eye out for a feature from the Administration Committee on how CSMFO’s budget is developed, and a new CSMFO Past President highlight.

May is also a big month for our CSMFO Chapters! Coachella Valley, Channel Counties, San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire / Desert Mountain, Central and Sacramento Valley, and East Bay all have upcoming meetings in the month of May. Take a look at CSMFO’s Chapters page. From there you can click the link at the bottom of the page to see the upcoming chapter events. With so many virtual options, members really have a great opportunity to take advantage of multiple learning and networking opportunities.

Finally, for all the mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day!!

As always, feel free to reach out with any article ideas, spotlights, or comments to communications@csmfo.org.
