CSMFO Members Listserv | April 2021
I’ve heard some complaints recently from the membership that they miss the old listserv. A couple people have asked why we did away with it. Well, we didn’t. It just looks a little different.
The CSMFO members listserv was converted into our Knowledge Base. This allows us to archive the questions and allows you all to be able to go back and search for things or reference responses, without having to keep everything in your email. You also no longer have to compile the answers and send them back out to everyone—because with the Knowledge Base, everyone has access to view both your questions and all the responses.
The kicker is, you have to make sure your profile in the Knowledge Base has the right settings for your liking. Initially, everyone was getting a ‘daily digest’ of all the posts, but with so many wondering “where the listserv went” we recently changed the system to allow for everyone to have a choice. You can choose the daily digest, you can choose to receive real-time emails, or you can choose to not receive any emails at all.
For me, I like knowing a listserv email was sent by Dan Buffalo on April 8, or by Alberto Preciado on April 1. Even if I’m not responding to the emails, I like seeing them come through—individually, showing up in my email as being from the sender, not the general CSMFO account.
But, you do you! Regardless of your preference, here’s how to set it. Everyone should go log in and make sure their settings are accurate, as the recent change to make Members available “Real Time” may have altered your existing preferences.
- Log in to the Knowledge Base.
- Go to your profile image in the upper right and click on the dropdown arrow.
- Go to Profile.
- Click on the “My Account” tab and then “Community Notifications” in the dropdown.
- There, you’ll see a list of all the Communities to which you belong. ‘Members’ is definitely in there, as is whatever chapter you belong to. Some of you on committees or in other volunteer leadership positions may see more.
- For each Community, there’s a dropdown box with the options for “Real Time”, “Daily Digest” or “No Email.”
- Choose what you want, for each of your Communities. If you’re wanting the listserv to look like it was before, you’ll want to make sure to choose “Real Time” for the Members Community.
And that’s it! I hope you’ve found this helpful. If you have any trouble with this, feel free to contact the CSMFO headquarters at 916-231-2137 or staff@csmfo.org.
